Hiking @ Bukit Jugra

What activity can be done in Bukit Jugra?
  • take selfie with light house
  • have amazing view of Sungai Langat and Selat Melaka
  • Do paragliding
  • Hiking in reserve forest

Old hiker once told me "Never judge a book by it cover and a hill by it height". Even though just a mere 140 meter above sea level, Bukit Jugra is a real challenge for a beginner hiker like me. Bukit Jugra is the most difficult hiking that i ever encounter.

First, we park our car nearby Masjid Al Muttaqin in Kampung Permatang Pasir.

Following the mosque road towards the water pipes, when we go there gate door is close and locked, if not we can take the stair (shortcut). Now it is close, so we need to use tar road.

you are in right path when saw this

after few minute, we are gasping for air and sweaty a lot

Don't ignore that signboard, because ... continue read

short trail (more uphill road)
long trail (less uphill road)

When we reach here, we are separate into 2 group. One group choose short trail (in the end they give up), another group choose long trail. Of course i will choose long trail.

even tough short trail but got lot uphill road also

This time take less photo because hiking really consume a lot of energy and i almost out of breath.

Beruk (pig tailed macaque)

Just be extra careful when you go Bukit Jugra. Because when we choose long trail, we encounter with Beruk (pig tailed macaque), this beruk come near to us and want to attack us. When i start to throw small stick toward it, this beruk start to make loud noise (call for backup), without notice suddenly got more than 5 beruk come down from trees and run toward us.

Even though i am out of breath and low energy, suddenly i got extra energy and run (uphill) first and left my friend behind. i stop running after 100 meter, because no more stamina to continue. Few minute later, we are surround by group of monkeys (10 monkeys). This time i just play dead, because really no more energy left and i don't dare to open my bag, because of the food and drink inside my bag. I scare that monkeys will attack me and snapped my bag. After rest for 10 minute, then we continue our journey.

After this experience, now only i know beruk is more fierce than monkey. Bad experience with beruk and monkeys.

Finally we reach peak of Bukit Jugra

Our main objective is not here but Bukit Jugra lighthouse, so we continue our journey and walk beside former air force barrack.

Did you still remember those who are given up when then choose short trail? Luckily they give up, because i can call them to fetch me, i really don't want to hiking down to car park. If you drive from car park, it take less than 10 minute to reach this lighthouse.
